20 Art Centres in 14 days – a life changing experience!
We have returned from our art buying mission in Australia. The trade
tour was organized by the Australian government with the mission of promoting
Aboriginal art to the US market. As one of nine delegates, Manuel discovered
new art communities, met numerous of artists, forged new relationships
with art centre managers, prominent art dealers and museum curators and
enjoyed the spectacular backdrop of the Australian Central and Western
Desert landscape.
The trade mission started in Uluru (Ayers Rock) on May 25 and 40 charter
flights later ended in Darwin on June 6. Manuel also had the privilege
of personalized tours of the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory
and the esteemed Darwin Supreme Court Art Collection. It was an unparalleled
education of the Aboriginal art market, the Aboriginal culture and the
challenges faced by all industry participants.
We now have some wonderful new additions to our collection, broadening
the media of works we offer to include paintings on bark from the Top
End, ochre paintings from the Kimberly and Mimi spirit carvings.
